Building bridges between Ireland and the Nordics through innovation, sustainability, and digital infrastructure.
This week, Salboheds was honoured to be invited to Leinster House in Dublin, the seat of Ireland’s national parliament. Our Chief Innovation Officer, Patrick Hamilton Walsh, met with members of the Irish Government and attended proceedings in both the Oireachtas and Seanad Éireann, deepening ties between Sweden and Ireland in the fields of sustainable infrastructure, innovation, and digital transformation.
The visit represented a meaningful milestone in Salboheds’ ongoing mission to connect the Nordic and Irish innovation ecosystems — strengthening collaboration around the future of data centres, renewable energy, and responsible construction across Europe.
A Warm Welcome at Leinster House
During the visit, Patrick was warmly welcomed by Minister Mary Butler and Senator Mark Daly, Cathaoirleach of the Seanad Éireann, who generously hosted discussions about the growing partnership between Ireland and Sweden.
These conversations focused on shared priorities, including:
- Advancing sustainable and low-carbon construction practices
- Supporting vocational training and workforce development
- Promoting responsible digital infrastructure growth
- Enhancing bilateral innovation exchange between Ireland and the Nordics
Both parties recognised the potential for greater collaboration between government, academia, and industry to accelerate Europe’s transition toward more resilient, efficient, and community-focused infrastructure.
Aligning Ireland and the Nordics on Sustainable Growth
Ireland and the Nordic countries share more than a geography of innovation — they share values of sustainability, transparency, and technological excellence.
With both regions playing critical roles in powering Europe’s data infrastructure, there is growing interest in how collaboration can enhance energy efficiency, drive local value creation, and ensure environmental accountability in one of the world’s most dynamic sectors: data centre development.
Salboheds’ visit to Leinster House underscored this mutual commitment. The discussions explored how the Irish and Swedish construction and technology sectors can work together to deliver projects that not only support digital growth but also contribute directly to national climate goals and community wellbeing.
“Our conversations at Leinster House highlighted how much Ireland and Sweden have in common — from our shared focus on sustainability and innovation to our commitment to people-centred progress,” said Patrick Walsh, Chief Innovation Officer at Salboheds. “This dialogue is about more than infrastructure; it’s about building trust, opportunity, and collaboration that benefit both regions and the wider European community.”
Salboheds’ Role in Europe’s Sustainable Digital Transition
As one of Sweden’s leading civil engineering and groundwork firms serving the data centre and sustainable infrastructure sectors, Salboheds is proud to represent the Nordic region in international dialogues that link policy, innovation, and execution.
Through its partnerships with hyperscalers, technology providers, and public-sector agencies, Salboheds is actively helping to shape the next generation of environmentally responsible infrastructure — where projects are designed for long-term social and economic value.
The visit to Dublin reinforced the company’s role as a bridge-builder between regions, supporting mutual learning and shared progress between Ireland’s dynamic tech sector and Sweden’s expertise in sustainable construction and energy systems.
Strengthening Irish–Nordic Relations for the Future
The meeting at Leinster House also served as a symbolic and practical step in deepening Irish–Nordic collaboration. It follows a series of initiatives — including Salboheds’ participation in the Enterprise Ireland Trade Mission to Sweden and the launch of the Hidden Workforce of the Cloud whitepaper — that are driving new conversations across borders about sustainability, digital inclusion, and regional growth.
By continuing to engage with policymakers, business leaders, and academic institutions, Salboheds aims to foster a cross-border community of innovation dedicated to building a more resilient, connected, and sustainable Europe.
“Salboheds’ presence in these international conversations demonstrates how industry and government can work together to achieve meaningful impact,” said Dennis Peters, CEO of Salboheds. “We believe collaboration between Ireland and the Nordics will play a central role in Europe’s digital and environmental future.”
Looking Ahead
Salboheds remains committed to supporting constructive dialogue between industry and government, ensuring that Europe’s rapid digital expansion is matched by responsibility, inclusion, and sustainability.
By fostering partnerships across borders — and connecting Irish innovation with Nordic engineering excellence — Salboheds continues to help shape a future where digital progress delivers tangible benefits for people, communities, and the planet.
